What displacement flowmeters do you know?

Displacement flowmeter is a tool used to measure the flow of media in chemical production. Currently, commonly used flowmeters can be roughly divided into ten categories. Such as orifice flowmeter, electromagnetic flowmeter, turbine flowmeter, Venturi flowmeter, oval gear flowmeter, rotor flowmeter, vortex flowmeter, ultrasonic flowmeter, nozzle flowmeter, etc. Let's take a look at the characteristics of several of these flowmeters.


Orifice displacement flowmeter is the flowmeter with the simplest structure. Its advantages are simple structure, easy installation, and very affordable price, so it is widely used.

Positive Displacement Flowmeter

Electromagnetic displacement flowmeter, ultrasonic flowmeter and turbine flowmeter are all electronic flowmeters. Among them, the working principle of electromagnetic flowmeter is magnetic measurement. This measurement method has less pressure loss, lower requirements on the properties of the medium, and higher measurement accuracy, so it is very suitable for sewage measurement. The principle of ultrasonic flowmeter is ultrasonic measurement. Due to the characteristics of ultrasonic waves, this measurement method is very suitable for media that cannot be observed with the naked eye, such as corrosive, radioactive, flammable and explosive media. However, its characteristics are also its disadvantages. This measurement method is too complicated and has high requirements for the temperature of the medium. The turbine flowmeter estimates the medium flow by measuring the turbine speed. This measurement method has almost no pressure loss, so it consumes less energy and has high accuracy. However, since it relies on the measurement of turbine rotation, it has certain requirements on the properties of the medium. Medium with too high viscosity is not suitable for this measurement method.


In contrast, the oval gear displacement flowmeter is very suitable for media with higher viscosity. This is because this measurement method has no requirements on the flow state of the medium. It should be noted that it cannot be used to measure solid granular or gaseous media. Because particles can easily get stuck in the gears and damage the flowmeter. The spherical displacement flowmeter can measure gaseous media. At the same time, it can also be used to measure oil products. This flowmeter has high accuracy and a large measurement range.
